The South Australian Premier’s Food Industry Awards and the Langhorne Creek wine region have struck up a partnership for the thirteenth annual South Australian Premier’s Food Industry Awards. The Langhorne Creek Region has become the official Wine Partner – making it the first region to do so, rather than an individual winery as traditionally occurs.

On Sunday May 16, The Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Association opened its doors for the public to take the largest collection of Langhorne Creek wines assembled in one place. Up to 100 of the region’s best drops, as judged by an esteemed judging panel, were arranged in the Langhorne Creek Memorial Hall to celebrate the culmination of Vintage 2010.

Following the success of event , the Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Association packed up the wines and took them to Adelaide to do it all over again staging the Showcase Wine Tasting in the City event on Sunday, July 4 in the Lion Hotel, North Adelaide.

Australia’s Second Family of Wine

At a time in the Australian wine industry where the fastest, newest, shiniest and loudest wine brands become household names overnight, it’s hard to fathom the longevity and perseverance required to run a family owned wine company for 160 years – especially in a state that was only officially founded in 1836.

It was an early start to vintage at Langhorne Creek, with the action kicking off at the end of January.
